Summry is a service for adults only (18 and over).

What you need to understand.

The real format of the exam, and what actually decides it.

The general bac (baccalauréat) has seven papers and 100 coefficients. Written French, oral French and mathematics were taken in June 2026, at the end of the first year: these 12 coefficients are already banked. In the final year, philosophy (8), two specialities (16 each) and the Grand oral (8) remain. The last 40 coefficients come from school reports, not from a paper.

What decides is the sum. A speciality at 16 coefficients makes up for an average philosophy mark; two language points lost on each written paper cannot be recovered elsewhere. Continuous assessment is validated by the class council, from your first- and final-year averages: last year's average still weighs in June 2027.

The weight of each paper

The format and weight of each paper, without the noise around it.

French, written

Written, 4 h, taken at the end of the first year · Coefficient 5

Precise reading, a clear issue, a legible script: at least two points concern language.

French, oral

Oral, 20 min, taken at the end of the first year · Coefficient 5

A held linear explanation, a defended work, an interview where the examiner checks what you know.

Early mathematics

Written, 2 h, without calculator, taken at the end of the first year · Coefficient 2, from 2027

6 points of automatic skills in short answers, 14 points of exercises to justify: speed and writing.

Philosophy

Written, 4 h, Monday 14 June 2027 · Coefficient 8

A problem posed and held, precise references, a script that does not collapse on language.

Two specialities

Written papers of 3 h 30 to 4 h depending on the discipline, sometimes a practical part · Coefficient 16 each, i.e. 32 out of 100

The final-year syllabus, the discipline's expectations and, in science, experimental skills.

Grand oral

20 min preparation, 10 min presentation, 10 min exchange · Coefficient 8, against 10 before 2027

Two questions based on your two specialities, one chosen by the jury: a held speech and a real dialogue.

What actually blocks you.

The obstacles that cost you points, not the clichés.

The 40 points that cannot be retaken

LVA, LVB, history-geography, scientific education and PE are at 6, EMC at 2, the speciality followed in the first year at 8. These are annual averages validated by the class council: a fragile first year is paid for in June 2027, and these points cannot be retaken at the oral.

The choice of specialities commits 40 coefficients

Three specialities in the first year, two kept at 16 coefficients each, i.e. 32, and the third transferred to continuous assessment at 8. Dropping a subject where you are strong caps that mark at 8 instead of 16: the end-of-second-year arbitration covers 40 coefficients out of 100.

Neglecting language

Since the 2027 session, each written paper reserves at least two points out of twenty for spelling, syntax and clarity of reasoning. On a highly written script, faulty language prevents the average, whatever the knowledge.

Counting on the resit for a mention

Between 8 and 10 average, two orals in disciplines already assessed in writing, including first-year French and mathematics. The best mark is kept, but no mention is awarded after the second group.

The method, in 3 steps.

A course goes in. Ready-made materials come out. You study.

  1. 01

Keep count of the 100 coefficients

One line per paper, its coefficient, your provisional mark, and the 40 school-report points. You see what is left to gain, paper by paper.

  2. 02

Write the two Grand oral questions, then say them

The jury chooses one. Write both, then rehearse in the format: 20 minutes preparation, 10 minutes presentation, 10 minutes exchange.

  3. 03

Train for the format, not the chapter

Four hours in philosophy, three and a half to four hours in a speciality: full timed scripts, not isolated exercises.

What Summry does for this exam.

Study materials, not a promise you’ll pass.

One sheet per speciality chapter

Upload the course as PDF, photos or Word: you get one sheet per chapter, the one that helps revise the final-year syllabus assessed in writing.

Quizzes to check recall

Quizzes generated from your courses test definitions and formulas: you spot the chapters to review before the two speciality papers of 3 h 30 to 4 h.

Mind maps for the Grand oral

Connect two chapters of your specialities on a map: enough to build the two questions you hand to the jury, which chooses one.

A chat limited to your documents, for philosophy

The chat reads only your files: for the 4-hour written paper, you check a reference without leaving your course. The account is free.

Summry does not mark your scripts and does not replace the four hours of philosophy or oral practice before a jury: it helps you make sheets and test yourself, not earn the language points or the school-report points.

Frequently asked questions.

The questions we get asked most often about General bac.

Which papers really count for the 2027 bac?

Sixty coefficients come from papers: written and oral French (coefficient 5 each) and the early mathematics paper (2) in the first year, then philosophy (8), two specialities (16 each) and the Grand oral (8). The remaining 40 are school-report averages: LVA, LVB, history-geography, scientific education and PE at 6, EMC at 2, the speciality followed only in the first year at 8.

What is the early mathematics paper?

A two-hour written paper, without calculator, taken at the end of the first year and carrying coefficient 2. It contains 6 points of short questions on automatic skills and 14 points of exercises to justify. The syllabus depends on the mathematics speciality: without it, you are assessed on the specific mathematics teaching integrated into scientific education. For the 2027 session, it took place on 12 June 2026.

Does the Grand oral change for the 2027 session?

Its coefficient goes from 10 to 8. With the early mathematics paper at 2 coefficients, the terminal papers remain at 60. The procedure does not change: you hand in two questions based on your two specialities, the jury chooses one, you have 20 minutes of preparation, then 10 minutes of presentation and 10 minutes of exchange.

How are the 40% of continuous assessment calculated?

From the annual averages of the final cycle: coefficient 6 for modern languages A and B, history-geography, scientific education and PE, 2 for EMC, 8 for the speciality followed only in the first year. Each option adds 2 coefficients per year followed, taking the total from 100 to 104, 106 or more. These points cannot be retaken in June.

What happens with an average between 8 and 10?

You take the second-group papers: two orals in two disciplines already assessed in writing in the first group, including first-year French and mathematics. The jury keeps the best mark between the two groups. If the average reaches 10, you pass, but no mention is possible; otherwise you are issued a certificate of completion of secondary education.
