The PASS becomes a licence portail santé (health gateway degree) in 2027

One Parcoursup choice, two applications, and a ranking that depends on your mention as much as on your marks. The exam rules themselves have not been published yet.

What you need to understand.

The real format of the exam, and what actually decides it.

From the 2027 intake, the licence portail santé replaces the PASS and the LAS (licence avec accès santé, a health-access degree route). The first year is worth 60 ECTS credits, split into three blocks: 24 to 30 in health, 24 to 30 in a discipline, 6 to 12 in cross-disciplinary skills. The three blocks share these 60 credits, each within its own range. Neither the format nor the length of the exams is set by the decree: each university organises them.

What decides is the ranking. The jury ranks students by mention, cuts these rankings into equivalent bands, then re-ranks each band using only the health-block marks. The health and disciplinary blocks must also be validated without compensation: a good mark in health does not make up for a weak mark in your discipline.

Three blocks, then a banded ranking

The format and weight of each paper, without the noise around it.

Health block

24 to 30 ECTS, exams organised by the university · Separates students within the same band

Precision and consistency: after the bands, only these marks count.

Disciplinary block

24 to 30 ECTS in a mention: science, psychology, law, STAPS (sports science) · Compulsory validation, no compensation

A real level in the discipline: without validation, no ranking is possible.

Cross-disciplinary block

6 to 12 ECTS: written and oral expression, analysis, synthesis, documentation · —

Skills assessed separately, which also count if you continue into the degree.

Banded ranking

Partial ranking by mention, then bands of equivalent level · Determines access to the places offered by the university

Nothing to revise: your place follows from the exams, not from a file.

Degree-to-health gateway (separate route)

Written application, then an audition before an admissions jury · One university, one course, two applications

A well-argued health project and a coherent application, not just an average.

What actually blocks you.

The obstacles that cost you points, not the clichés.

Choosing a mention without looking at the bands

Ranking is by mention, then by bands of equivalent level. Your rank depends on the mention you choose as much as on your marks: two different mentions do not give the same ranking.

Counting on compensation between the two blocks

The health and disciplinary blocks must be validated without compensation. A good mark on one side does not erase a weak mark on the other: both marks are still required.

Repeating a year to regain an application

Repeating the first year does not reopen this right. The second application only comes at the end of the second year of the degree, in the same mention.

Building a plan on assumed dates

Coefficients, exam calendar and jury composition depend on decrees not published as of 28 October 2026. No university can display its calendar yet.

The method, in 3 steps.

A course goes in. Ready-made materials come out. You study.

  1. 01

Sort by block, not by subject

Three binders: health, discipline, cross-disciplinary. At a glance you see what can move you between bands and what only validates a block.

  2. 02

Make sheets for what gets recited

One sheet per teaching unit: definitions, threshold values, diagrams to recall from memory. Since the exam format is not settled, focus on what can be reproduced without notes.

  3. 03

    Track the most fragile block

An average says nothing about your rank. Grade each unit and spot the block where a low mark would push you out of your band before the results.

What Summry does for this exam.

Study materials, not a promise you’ll pass.

One study sheet per teaching unit

PDFs of lecture handouts, photos of notes, Word, PowerPoint: you upload a course from the health block and get one sheet per unit, to file in the right block. The account is free.

Quizzes when the exam format is missing

The decrees still say nothing about format or length. Quizzes generated from your courses test quick recall, which remains useful as long as your faculty has published nothing.

Cards for definitions and thresholds

Cards drawn from your documents can be reviewed between two health-block units. In a paper whose format is not settled, definitions and threshold values remain what gets recited without notes.

One mind map per health chapter

Anatomy, physiology and semiology from the same chapter connect on a single map. This is the block that separates you within your band, not the cross-disciplinary one.

Summry does not replace the exams organised by your faculty or the validation of the disciplinary block: it helps you make sheets and test yourself, not choose your mention or follow the decrees for you.

Frequently asked questions.

The questions we get asked most often about PASS.

Does the PASS still exist at the start of 2027?

No. Decree no. 2026-988 of 23 October 2026 ends the PASS and LAS system. From the 2027 intake, the licence portail santé becomes the only route into medicine, pharmacy, dentistry and midwifery. Students already enrolled keep the previous rules until the end of the 2028-2029 year. Until the decrees are published, the only verifiable deadline is the opening of Parcoursup on 17 December 2026.

How many choices do you have to make on Parcoursup?

A single choice for the licence portail santé, with one or more sub-choices depending on the disciplines you are targeting. The ministry announces it in its 24 October 2026 press release: the 2027 campaign must show this single choice and these sub-choices. So it is not one choice per mention: you first choose the gateway degree, then the disciplines you are interested in within that choice.

How many times can you apply?

Twice. The first enrolment in the licence portail santé counts as the first application. The second comes at the end of the second year of the degree, in the same mention, or after a gap year or national service. The university president can grant an exception in exceptional circumstances that affected your studies. Repeating the first year does not reopen this right.

How is the ranking established?

You must validate the 60 ECTS and both blocks, without compensation. The jury first ranks students by mention, cuts these rankings into bands of equivalent level, then ranks each band using only the health-block marks. Ties are broken by coefficients set by decree. These coefficients were not published as of 28 October 2026.

What if you are not admitted to the second year?

You continue into the second year of the degree in the mention you chose, or into nursing training if you meet the credit conditions. The first year is not lost. A gateway also exists later for degree holders, even without having followed the licence portail santé, based on an application then an audition. Neither the national number of places nor a pass rate is published to date.
