The real format of the exam, and what actually decides it.
Four written papers, 3 hours each, for the EDN (épreuves dématérialisées nationales, national computer-based exams): three composition units of 90 to 110 questions (QRM, QRU, QROC), then the LCA, the critical reading of an article, in two 1.5-hour units on the same afternoon. Your university adds a training-pathway file, 60 points maximum. The ECOS come afterwards: ten stations over two days.
What decides is rank, not average. The computer-based papers account for 60% of the mark, the ECOS for at least 30%, and the balance depends on the weighting of your specialty choices. Without 14/20 in rank A at one of the two sessions, access to the ECOS closes for that campaign, and a good rank B mark does not compensate.
Four papers, and what they weigh
The format and weight of each paper, without the noise around it.
Composition units 1 to 3
3 × 3 h, 90 to 110 questions: QRM (multiple answers), QRU, QRP, spotting zones, QROC, script concordance tests · With the LCA, 60% of the mark
Accuracy and speed. In QRM, scoring is by discordance: one unacceptable answer cancels the question.
LCA, critical reading of an article
2 units of 1 h 30 on the same afternoon, 13 to 17 questions per article, counted double · Included in the 60%
Read an article like a clinician: method, bias, what can be drawn from it for a patient. Reciting items is not enough.
ECOS, 10 stations
10 stations over 2 days, 5 per day; 8 minutes per station in 2026, length set each year by the opening decree · 30% minimum, depending on your specialty choices
Act, say and show without help, with or without a simulated patient: announcement, examination, procedure, strategy.
Training pathway
File reviewed by your university on a national grid, with supporting documents · 60 points maximum, added to the file
Prove every point: optional unit, master's, mobility, commitment, professional experience.

Results of the first session
2027 campaign: the papers were held from 12 to 15 October 2026 and registrations are closed. The CNG uses this name for the session leading to entry into the DES in 2027. Results on the Even account; the 14/20 threshold in rank A decides access to the ECOS.
January 2027 (to be confirmed)
Second session, if the threshold is not reached
Announced by the Scientific Council on 29 August 2026; the CNG still shows 'to come' as of 28 October 2026. Two half-days of 3 h, without the LCA, organised by your UFR. Only first-session marks count for matching.
Jun 2027 (to be confirmed)
ECOS
2027 calendar not published as of 28 October 2026; it must be set six months before the papers. In 2026, the ECOS took place on 2 and 3 June.
Aug 2027 → Sep 2027 (to be confirmed)
Matching and allocation
Not published. In 2026, choices ran from 17 August to 11 September, for allocation in September.
October 2027 (not published)
EDN, 2028 campaign
If you sit the EDN in October 2027, no calendar is published as of 28 October 2026: neither the dates nor the registration period.

What actually blocks you.
The obstacles that cost you points, not the clichés.
Expecting rank B to save rank A
The 14/20 applies only to rank A knowledge, and you must reach it at one of the two sessions. A good rank B mark does not make up for a rank A below the threshold: you sit the second session and do not access the ECOS.
Counting on the second session to climb the ranking
It opens access to the ECOS, but only first-session marks go into the matching file (decree of 21 December 2021, art. 9). Catching up costs places.
Believing the ECOS can be caught up
The ECOS have no second session. Below 10/20, the sum of the ten unweighted stations, no matching that year: re-enrolment in DFASM3 and a new session the following year.
Revising the LCA like a course item
Two articles in three hours, questions counted double. Method and bias earn more than the volume of knowledge.
The method, in 3 steps.
A course goes in. Ready-made materials come out. You study.
01
Sort rank A and rank B before making sheets
The threshold applies only to rank A, but both marks go into the 60%. Make sheets for rank A for precision, rank B for coverage.
02
Do a timed LCA every week
Two articles in three hours, 13 to 17 questions per article. Practise answering without going back to the text: time is the constraint.
03
Rehearse the stations before sitting them
Eight minutes in 2026, without help, with a classmate noting what you say and do. Ten stations follow one another like a series.
What Summry does for this exam.
Study materials, not a promise you’ll pass.
Quizzes in blocks of 90 to 110 questions
That is the size of a composition unit. You generate quizzes from an item and run series of that length to last three hours.
One sheet per rank, not one sheet per item
A rank A item is sheeted for precision, a rank B item for coverage. You upload the PDF, photo or Word file and get the sheet either way.
A station grid to print
For the ECOS: you import a station's reference framework, you get a short grid to print, which a classmate fills in while you act the eight minutes.
A chat that stays inside your documents
It only reads your files: useful for rechecking a bias criterion in the LCA without leaving your sheet.
Summry does not read a scientific article for you and does not replace a simulated patient: the LCA is trained on real articles, the ECOS with a classmate who assesses.
Frequently asked questions.
The questions we get asked most often about EDN et ECOSn.
Rank A and rank B, what's the difference?
Two groups of knowledge in the second-cycle syllabus. Rank A is the base every student must master to enter the third cycle; rank B covers more advanced knowledge specific to each discipline. Only rank A has a threshold: 14/20. Both marks count in the 60% of the overall mark.
What happens if I don't get 14/20 in rank A?
You sit the second session, organised by your UFR and announced for January 2027: two half-days of 3 h, without the LCA. If you reach the threshold, you access the ECOS, but only first-session marks count for matching. Failing both sessions closes access to the ECOS for the year.
How much do the ECOS weigh in the ranking?
At least 30% of the overall mark, with a weighting that varies according to your specialty choices. The computer-based papers account for 60%. Alongside, the training pathway adds up to 60 points to the matching file, on a 100-point scale: it is not a percentage of the mark. So there is no fixed 60/40 split.
Is the 2027 calendar published?
Partly. The 2027 campaign held its papers from 12 to 15 October 2026, with results on 30 October. The second session is announced for January 2027, with no decree published as of 28 October 2026. The June 2027 ECOS and the August-September matching are still to be confirmed. If you sit the EDN in October 2027, your calendar is not published either.
Can the papers be retaken?
Once, by derogation: giving up matching and repeating DFASM3, with the agreement of the UFR director and the opinion of a commission. For the ECOS, two attempts maximum, then authorisation from the university president. The placements of the extra year are not validated, unless DFASM3 is not validated.
